About the event
Born in Gulfport, Mississippi in 1976, Steve started playing guitar around the age of nine, making up his own tunings, and simply playing by ear. He practiced eight hours a day with no formal training, and soon after, began playing professionally.        In 1993, classic-rock and top-forty cover-band Crossfire was formed. They produced much original music with strong roots in the blues. Crossfire was the opening act for Government Mule (featuring Warren Haynes of The Allman Brothers Band) and Storyville (featuring Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble).        At eighteen, already playing four nights a week in clubs with Crossfire, Steve started working at Pinkston's Music as guitar technician. During this time he could be found playing at the E.O. Club blues jams, where he gained several local musicians as his mentors.       Steve played with DeVille and The Pat Ramsey Band, learning everything he could about the blues. He played with Nelson Lunding at The Rock-n-Bowl in New Orleans, where they opened for Marcia Ball. Steve also played with Freewater Junction and Smack Dab.       In 2000, his ability to work on musical equipment led to technical work with guitarist Shane Theriot of The Neville Brothers, and Funky Meters guitarist Brian Stoltz. It was backstage at these shows Steve established a behind the scenes knowledge of the music business.       At the House of Blues in New Orleans, Brian Stoltz introduced him to national recording artist Tab Benoit. Steve then went on the road for nearly a year as Tabs road manager and guitar tech. His first gig was actually at the recording of Tab Benoit's 2002 CD,  Wetlands .       Touring with Tab gave Steve a great amount of experience. In-between tours, Steve played shows at home, putting to use all the things he learned on the road, like how to approach singing, how to play hard, and when to play soft. However, missing the stage, he decided to leave the road and come back home to play music.       Steve has just played on the new Boxrockers CD. With Kevin King on guitar and vocals, the CD features brilliant flute sounds from Kofi Burbridge of The Derek Trucks Band, legendary bluegrass musician Vasser Clements on fiddle, and the power-house drumming of Buddy Miles from Jimi Hendrix and the Band of Gypsys.       In his personal quest to re-invigorate the blues here in Mississippi, the birthplace of the blues, he influences the genre (and music in general) with fresh, enthusiastic, raw talent. This talent includes the rare ability to modify guitars and amplifiers in order to achieve his signature tone. The music (blues) enthusiast can only wait in anticipation of whatever Steve chooses to include on his next CD.       The Steve Warren Band is a must see here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Their funky blues-rock riffs continue to display the bands unique sound and energy. Steve Warren has clearly developed his own blend of down home music, and an exciting style of the blues. Steve's goal is to create music that heals .
