About the event
Born in Gulfport, Mississippi in 1976, Steve started playing guitar around the age of nine, making up his own tunings, and simply playing by ear. He practiced eight hours a day with no formal training, and soon after, began playing professionally. In 1993, classic-rock and top-forty cover-band Crossfire was formed. They produced much original music with strong roots in the blues. Crossfire was the opening act for Government Mule (featuring Warren Haynes of The Allman Brothers Band) and Storyville (featuring Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble). At eighteen, already playing four nights a week in clubs with Crossfire, Steve started working at Pinkston's Music as guitar technician. During this time he could be found playing at the E.O.
