Jay B began playing guitar at just 8 years old, growing up on a dairy farm in small-town America. By 13, he was already performing professionally, and immediately after high school he went to work as a full-time musician.

Early in his career, Jay B opened shows for legendary artists such as James Cotton, Mountain, Gregg Allman, and Canned Heat, among many others. He went on to tour across the United States with various bands and later shared the stage with iconic acts including Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels, Steppenwolf, Edgar Winter, Samantha Fish, Tab Benoit, Gatemouth Brown, 38 Special, Band of Heathens, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and Molly Hatchet, to name a few.
